As per Khel Now’s report, Kerala Blasters FC are close to signing right-back Prabir Das from arch rivals Bengaluru FC. The 29-year-old joined the Blues last summer in a swap deal with Ashique Kuruniya heading to ATK Mohun Bagan. The Tuskers will pay an undisclosed fee for the defender, and a milt-year deal is likely to be signed between the parties. Meanwhile, Prabir had an impressive debut season for BFC as he made 20 ISL appearances and played a key role in the teams remarkable journey to the final, where they eventually lost out to his former club ATKMB. Meanwhile Prabir seldomly featured for BFC in the Hero Super Cup as head coach Simon Grayson preferred Namgyal Bhutia in the wing-back role.

Kerala Blasters had an average season last term as they managed to qualify for the playoff’s but their performances towards the end of the campaign was below par. The Yellow Army struggled to coup with injuries to defenders Sandeep Singh and Marko Leskovic and were often forced rely on make-shit defenders such as Ayush Adhikari, which cost them badly. Nevertheless, the Tuskers are now very much active in the transfer market and have also been linked with Odisha FC’s young full back Shubham Sarangi. Meanwhile, there have been rumours about the Yellow Army being interested in ATKMB left-back Subhasish Bose.

Prabir is a two-time ISL winner

Blasters’s have already parted ways with veteran full-backs Harmanjot Singh Khabra and Jessel Carmneiro and are now looking to add more pace and youthful exuberance to the flanks. Prabir is a seasoned campaigner, who has good pace and is also capable of delivering quality crosses. He is not hesitant to put his body on the line and can make those darting runs down the right flank whenever the opportunity arrives. The 29-year-old is expected to give solid competition to Sandeep in the right-back position.

Prabir made his ISL debut in 2014 and has featured for multiple clubs over the period. He has 106 ISL caps to his name. With ATK, he became an ISL winner in 2016, when the Kolkata-based club overcame Blasters on penalties in the final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. Four years later, the West Bengal footballer went on to lift the ISL trophy, once again with the Kolkata giants, this time in Goa. Last season, the defender won the Durand Cup with Bengaluru FC. His wealth of experience will allow the Tuskers to rely on him and provide Vukomanovic more quality options to choose from.
