Two sides looking to secure their first Premier League win of the season will be up against each other on Friday night as Nottingham Forest host Sheffield United at City Ground. The hosts began their campaign with a 2-1 defeat away to favourites Arsenal last weekend, while the newly promoted Blades were beaten 1-0 by Crystal Palace. Forest managed to extend their stay in the English top flight for at least one more season courtesy of finishing at the 16th spot last season, just four points clear of the relegation zone. The visitors, meanwhile, claimed second spot in the 2022-23 EFL Championship to return to the top division after a gap of two years.

Nottingham found themselves 2-0 down inside the opening 32 minutes at the Emirates Stadium courtesy of goals from Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka, and looked down and out. However, The Trick Trees managed to prevent the Gunners from adding more goals despite seeing just 21% possession, and pulled one back through Taiwo Awoniyi’s 82nd-minute effort. Despite the defeat, Steve Cooper will not be disappointed with his team’s performance as they showed great resilience and some attacking intent in the final quarter of the match. The Super Reds claimed 30 of their 38 league-points on home soil last season, therefore will hopeful of overcoming newly promoted Sheffield United at City Ground on Friday.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, struggled to get going on their return to the Premier League last Saturday, losing out to the Eagles at Bramall Lane. Although the Blades lost the match through Odsonne Edouard’s lone goal early in the second-half, head coach Paul Heckingbottom will be disappointed with his side’s performance, having just 32% possession and attempting only a solitary shot on goal compared to eight efforts on target by the visitors. Meanwhile, the Blades have made a good number of signings this summer to bolster their squad, bringing in the likes of Gustavo Hamer, Vini Souza, Auston Trusty, Benie Traore, Anis Slimane and Yasser Larouci. But the departure of Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge, who played a key role in their promotion last season, has certainly effected the team in big time.
