Two teams fighting for European qualification will go head-to-head, when Osasuna host Villarreal in a La Liga fixture at Estadio El Sadar on Sunday. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of 1-0 defeats, with the hosts losing out to Valencia in the Spanish top flight last Sunday, while Villarreal got knocked out of the Europa Conference League after being beaten by Anderlecht on Thursday. Osasuna were last victorious in the La Liga away to Sevilla (3-2) at the end of February, thanks to David Garcia’s 18th-minute opener, 67th-minute own goal by Fernando and Abde Ezzalzouli’s late strike. Villarreal, on the other hand, have the seventh-best away record in the La Liga this term, picking up 15 points from 13 games on the road. But since then, Quique Setien’s men are winless in the next three games in all competitions. On Thursday, Yellow Submarine’s European campaign came to an end, losing 1-0 to Anderlecht in the second leg of their Conference League last-16 tie. Islam Slimani’s 73rd-minute effort separated the two sides at El Madrigal.
