It does not get any bigger than playing in the FA Cup final for many footballers. To have the title match as a Manchester Derby makes it extra special. Both clubs will be heading into this contest brimming with confidence. Manchester City have already won the Premier League crown with games to spare. Besides, the FA Cup is the first of two finals they are going to play. They also have a Champions League final against Inter Milan pending.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have done well in Erik ten Hag’s first season to finish third in the Premier League table. Having already won a trophy – EFL Cup – the FA Cup final presents another opportunity for ten Hag and Co to win a second trophy of the season. Ahead of the match, Harry Maguire spoke about the importance experience plays in a game of this magnitude. He believes currently United have players who are used to playing in these big occasions.

“Experience is a huge thing in football, being there and playing in these big matches, these big pressure moments, it’s really important to have that experience on your side. I think across our team now, if you look at our team, we’ve got lads who have won big trophies and lots who have played in a lot of finals, so it’s a good balance of the squad. We’re ready to give it everything,” he told MUTV.

Last season was such a disappointing year: Harry Maguire

Maguire then spoke about the important role supporters have played this season for the club. “The fans have been right with us throughout the season and I think they’ve been really important to the success that we’ve had and the positive results that we’ve had. I think we’ve seen at Old Trafford, our results have been amazing so we know at Wembley they’re going to be there, they’re going to be loud and it’s a day that we hope we can do them proud,” he stated.

He added: “I think the fans at this club are a huge part of the club, they’re right behind the team, you can feel the energy and the intensity that they bring to the matches as well. I think obviously last season was such a disappointing year for us all, as players and staff, as fans, just as a club in general, so to bounce back in such a positive manner, I think it’s really, really impressive.”

Harry Maguire being an English international has always dreamt of playing at the Wembley Stadium. Opening up about it, Maguire said, “For myself, it’s a dream to play at Wembley.
