Inter are going through bit of a rough patch, having lost two of their last three games in all competitions. After the 2-0 win over Lecce, thanks to goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Lautaro Martinez, Inter lost two Serie A games against Spezia and Juventus, either side of a goalless draw against Porto in the Champions League last-16. Last time out, Nerazzurri lost to Juve courtesy of Filip Kostic’s lone goal mid-way through the first half. Both teams had a man sent off at the end as scuffles broke out, and It was Inter’s ninth top flight defeat of the season. On a positive note, Simone Inzaghi’s side secured a thrilling 4-3 win over Viola in the reverse fixture in October thanks to Nicolo Barella’s opener, Martinez’s brace and a 95th-minute winner by Mkhitaryan.
Fiorentina, on the other hand, are in stunning form, having won each of their last seven games across all competitions. Last time out, Viola edged past Lecce through Antonino Gallo’s own goal mid-way through the first-half. It was Vincenzo Italiano’s side’s 10th league-win of the campaign. With a place in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals assured and the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final clash against Cremonese coming up next week, Fiorentina are also in the top half of the table as a result of such stunning form.
