Both sides were involved in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers on Friday, with the hosts securing a dominant 3-0 win away to Gibraltar, while Lithuania suffered a 2-0 defeat against Serbia. Meanwhile, these two nations have faced each other only two times in the past, and both the 2014 World Cup qualification matches ended in favour of Greece. The latest of those encounters was almost a decade ago in 2013.

Greece put three goals past Gibraltar without reply at Estadio Algarve courtesy of efforts from Giorgos Masouras, Emmanouli Siopis and Anastasios Bakasetas. It was a dominant performance from Gus Poyet’s side as they had close to 75% ball possession, created 27 chances and recorded seven shots on target. The Uruguayan tactician, who took charge of the Pirate Ship in February last year, has now led the team to seven wins from 11 games in charge. Meanwhile Sky Blues and Whites have now recorded six wins from their last seven competitive games, five of those victories came in the Nations League.
As for Lithuania, they lost to Serbia in their opening match of the Euro 2024 qualifier, courtesy of goals from Dusan Tadic and Dusan Vlahovic. It was considered as their toughest fixture of the schedule and it came as no surprise when they lost the match. The result extended Rinktine’s winless streak to 10 games in all competitions, while nine of those matches ended in defeats. Their last win came against San Marino in a friendly almost an year ago. Meanwhile, Edgaras Jankauskas’ side have scored only once in their last six games.
