Mongolia lost out to India in their opening match of the tournament courtesy of first-half goals from Sahal Abdul Samad and Lallianzuala Chhangte. Kerala Blasters FC midfielder Sahal opened the scoring inside the opening two minutes by slotting home from inside the box. The Blues Wolves struggled to coup with India’s attacks down the wings, while Sahal was simply brilliant in in the middle of the park. The home side doubled the lead in the 14th-minute thanks to Chhangte’s effort from a set piece. Although Ichiro Otsuka’s side closed the gates in the second half to prevent India from scoring further, the damage was already done.
Lebanon, on the other hand, ended their five-game losing streak across all competitions courtesy of defeating Vanuatu last time out.
