Leicester City will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the 2023-24 campaign when they host Cardiff City in an EFL Championship fixture at King Power Stadium on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town last weekend, while Cardiff suffered a 2-1 defeat against Queen Park Rangers. With two wins from as many games, the Foxes are sitting at the second spot in the standings, while the visitors are languishing in 17th position having collected just a solitary point so far.

Leicester were far from convincing in their opening two league-games against Coventry City and Huddersfield, but managed to secure maximum points. The Foxes came from behind to beat Coventry 2-1 in their curtain raiser almost two weeks ago, while last Saturday, Stephy Mavididi’s lone goal 17 minutes was ended for Enzo Maresca’s side get the better of Huddersfield at John Smith’s Stadium. Each of Leicester’s three goals in the English second tier this season have been scored in the final 20 minutes, arguably an indication that there is enough fuel in the tank.
Cardiff, on the other hand, kicked off their campaign with a dramatic 2-2 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road. The Bluebirds were forced to share the spoils against the newly relegated outfit despite taking 2-0 lead through first-half efforts from Josh Bowler and Ige Ugbo. Meanwhile, Erol Bulut’s side failed to impress in their first home-fixture of the season against QPR last Saturday, despite the fact that Ugbo found the back of the net 12 minutes from time. Bulut’s side had the majority of ball possession and created double the number of chances as compared to QPR, but weren’t clinical in front of goal. On a positive note, Cardiff had prevailed 1-0 in their previous visit to the King Power Stadium, which was way back in 2018, when both sides were in the Premier League.
Leicester City probable starting lineup: Hermansen, Pereira, Faes, Vestergaard, Doyle, Praet, Winks, Dewsbury-Hall, Marcal-Madivadua, Iheanacho, Mavididi
Cardiff City probable starting lineup: Alnwick, Ng, McGuinness, Goutas, O’Dowda, Wintle, Adams, Bowler, Ramsey, Grant, Ugbo
