Leeds United will continue their preparations for the resumption of Premier League action later this month after the World Cup break, when they play host to La Liga outfit Real Sociedad in a friendly match at Elland Road on Friday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-1 win over Elche last Friday, while Real Sociedad played out a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano, a day later. Leeds are currently languishing at the 15th spot in the Premier League standings, having collected just 15 points from their 14 league games, while the visitors are occupying third spot in the La Liga standings, with 26 points to their name, 11 adrift of leaders Barcelona.

Leeds got the better of Elche courtesy of goals from Joe Gelhardt and Mateusz Klich. Prior to the World Cup break, the Peacock suffered a 4-3 defeat to Tottengham despite the fact that Cresencio Summerville opened the scoring and Rodrigo Moreno netted a brace. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad have been in stunning form this season, having won eight of their 14 league games thus far. Despite struggling in the final outings prior to the break, Imanol Alguacil’s side are well and truly fighting for a Champions League spot. Their latest outing against Rayo Vallecano ended in a 1-1 draw after Alexander Sorloth’s opener was canceled out by Randy Netka.
Leeds trio of Rasmus Kristensen, Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams have joined the squad after their World cup duties and are likely to feature on Friday. Youngster Joe Gelhardt could spearhead the attack, with Aaronson, Rodrigo and Summerville in support. As for Real Sociedad, attackers Mikel Oyarzabal, Ander Barrenetxea and Umar Sadiq are sidelined with injuries. Sorloth will again lead the line, with Mohamed-Ali Cho in support.
