Palace have been involved in a series of friendlies to regain match fitness. Although the results of the games will not be deemed as important as the team getting match practice, head coach Patrick Vieira would be a little disappointed that his side are winless in their previous three games. The first match against Botafogo ended in a goalless draw. Following that, the Premier League outfit played out a 2-2 draw with Trabzonspor, courtesy of goals from Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Philippe Mateta. Meanwhile, their last outing against Serie A leaders Napoli ended in a 3-1 defeat, despite Wilfried Zaha opening the scoring. Before the season was halted for the World Cup the south London side had collected 19 points from their 14 league games, to be sitting at the 11th position in the English top flight standings.
Valladolid, on the other hand, are currently occupying 12th position in the La Liga standings, having pocketed 17 points from 14 games. Their last league-match against Athletic Club, in November, ended in a disappointing 3-0 defeat. The White and Violets have already taken part in four friendly matches this summer, starting with a narrow 1-0 win over Getafe, before suffering consecutive 2-0 defeats against Athletic Club and Lille. Pucela are close to returning to league action, and they will face the mammoth task of hosting reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid on December 31.
