Last year’s beaten finalists are no longer the favourties in the Scudetto race and therefore, Bianconeri will be hoping to put their best foot forward in the cup competition. Massimiliano Allegri’s side went to Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on an eight game winning streak without conceding a goal, but Napoli came out with a five star performance to take all three points and confirmed which of two teams was best placed to dethrone AC Milan and claim the Scudetto. Angel Di Maria’s 42nd minute strike proved to be just a consolation goal for Allegri’s side. The 14-time Coppa Italia champions can seek solace in cup competitions instead, with the Europa League journey also set to embark next month against Nantes.
Monza, on the other hand, have already defeated the likes of Frosinone and Udinese in the previous rounds to reach this far in the Copa Italia. Biancorossi defeated Udinese 3-2 in the second round, courtesy of goals from Mattia Valoti, Salvatore Molina and Andrea Petagna. Monza have managed to take five points from their last three games, against the likes of Fiorentina (1-1), Inter Miland (2-2) and Cremonese (3-2). Biancorossi secured the win against Cremonese, through Patrick Ciurria’s opener and Gianluca Caprari’s brace. Caretaker manager Raffaele Palladino might fancy his side to cause an upset in Turin.
Juventus attackers Dusan Vlahovic and Juan Cuadrado are back from injuries and could feature on Thursday. Meanwhile, the likes of Paul Pogba, Leonardo Bonucci, Mattia De Sciglio and Kaio Jorge are sidelined with injuries. With Allegri expected to rotate his squad, youngsters might get some game time. Moise Kean is likely to lead the line, with Miretti in support. As for Monza, midfielder Nicolo Rovella is sidelined with injury, while forward Dany Mota’s participation is also doubtful because of muscular issue.
Juventus probable line-up: Perin, Danilo, Rugani, Gatti, Soule, McKennie, Paredes, Fagioli, Kostic, Miretti, Kean
Monza probable line-up: Cragno, Antov, Mari, Marlon, Brindelli, Pessina, Sensi, Augusto, Colpani, Caprari, Petagna
