Hull City will play host to Birmingham City in an EFL Championship fixture at MKM Stadium on Tuesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a goalless draw away to Preston North End at the weekend, while the Blues ended up on the losing side of a seven-goal thriller versus Southampton last time out. The Tigers are currently occupying the sixth and final Championship playoff spot, having collected 56 points from 35 games, just a solitary point clear of seventh-placed Norwich City. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 20th position in the second tier table, with 38 points to their name from 35 outings, level on points with Stoke City, who are sitting at the 22nd position, the final relegation spot.

Hull were impressive in the month of February, collecting 13 points from a possible 18. Three successive 2-1 wins against the likes of Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town and Southampton propelled the Tigers into the playoff positions. However, Liam Rosenior’s men were forced to share the spoils with West Bromwich Albion towards the end of last month despite taking the lead through Fabio Carvalho’s opener in the first-half. On Saturday, at Deepdale, Hull could have made it five straight away-wins for the first time since 1966, but Ryan Lowe’s men came up with a strong performance to share the spoils. Nevertheless, Rosenior’s men are heading into Tuesday’s fixture on the back of a five-game unbeaten run.
Birmingham, on the other hand, have won ten league games this season and their last success came against Sunderland on February 17. After that, the Blues lost back-to-back games against automatic promotion challengers Ipswich Town and Southampton. On Saturday, Birmingham lost out to the Saints despite the fact that Koji Miyoshi, Jay Stansfield and Juninho Bacuna got on the scoresheet. Meanwhile, it was Birmingham’s fourth successive away-defeat across all competitions. On a positive note, the Blues prevailed 2-1 in the reverse fixture with Hull back in January.
