Lazio had an impressive Serie A season last term, finishing fifth in the standings with 64 points from 38 games, six points away from fourth-placed Juventus, who secured the final Champions League spot. The Red and Blues, meanwhile, finished second from the bottom in the 2021-22 Serie A table and got relegated to the second tier of Italian football.

Lazio have had an impressive summer so far, registering victories against Dekani (5-0), Tiestina (3-1) and Primorja. Last Thursday, at Stadio Rodolfo Zandegiacomo, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Pedro, Danilo Cataldi and Matteo Cancelliari netted for Maurizio Sarri’s side. After the game against Genoa, the White and Sky blues will begin their new Serie A season at home against Bologna on August 14.

Genoa, on the other hand, began their pre-season with a 2-0 defeat to Luzern before going down against Mallorca. Lago Juniors’ 73rd-minute strike separated the two sides at Silberstedt Arena last Friday. The Old Fool will next play Benevento in the Coppa Italia first round fixture July 30 before starting their 2022-23 Serie B season away to Venezia on August 14.

Lazio boss Sarri is likely to name a strong starting eleven as this will be their final friendly before getting into competitive action. Talismanic striker Ciro Immobile could lead the attack with Felipe Anderson in support. Pedro could also feature at some stage of the game, while new arrivals Matteo Zaccagni, Alessio Romagnoli, Marcos Antonio and Nicolo Casale are also expected to feature on Wednesday. As for Genoa, Filippo Melegoni, who joined the club from Atlanta this summer, could pull the string from the midfield. New signing Massimo Coda might lead the attack.
The pre-season friendly match between Genoa and Lazio will take place at Sportzentrum Brandstatt Wednesday at 8:30 pm IST.
