Denmark will host France in a UEFA Nations League fixture at Parken on Sunday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Croatia on Thursday night, while France got the better of  Austria 2-0 on the same day. Denmark are currently occupying second position in League A Group 1 with nine points from five games, just one point behind leaders Croatia. France, meanwhile, are sitting at the third position, having collected five points from as many games.

A victory for Denmark against Croatia would have guaranteed them a place in the finals of the Nations League, but the Blazers were too good for Kasper Hjulman’s side on Thursday. Borna Sosa put Croatia ahead four minutes into the second half, before Denmark equalised through Christain Eriksen’s 77th-minute strike. But the home side restored the lead two minutes later and went on to secure all three points at Stadion Maksimir. The Danish Dynamite will need to upset the 2018 world champions on Sunday and hope Croatia falter against Austria in the other match of the group, to progress to the finals.

France, on the other hand, are out of the race for a spot in the finals, but Didier Deschamps’ side would be aiming to take three points and secure their place in the top tier of European football. The reigning Nations League champions France have been plagued by on and off-field issues. Les Bleus managed to register just one win from their five Nations League games this term and that lone victory came against Austria in their last outing. Deschamps’s side netted two times without reply through Kylian Mpabbe and Olivier Giroud to take all three points at Stade de France.
