Denmark will host Croatia in the UEFA Nations League group stage fixture at Parken Stadium on Friday. The Danish Dynamite return home with six points in the bag after narrow wins in France and Austria. Meanwhile the visitors didn’t have a great start to their 2022-23 Nations League campaign, losing 3-0 to Austria before sharing the spoils against France, earlier this month. The onus will now be on the Blazers having picked up just one point from two games. Meanwhile both teams have faced each other on six occasions and there isn’t much difference between the two sides. The Danish Dynamite have won three times, lost  twice and drawn one match.

The Red and Whites started this round of fixtures with a stunning come-from-behind 2-1 win over the world champions on June 3. And then, three days later, Kasper Hjulmand’s side got the better of Austria with an identical scoreline. At Ernst Happel Stadion, Denmark took the lead through Pierre emile Hojberg before Xavier Schlager equalised for the hosts. And then, Jens Larsen netted a late winner to clinch all three points for Denmark. The Euro 2020 semi-finalists are in stunning form, having won eight of their last 18 games across all competitions. Meanwhile Hjulmand’s side have won each of their last five home fixtures with an aggregate score of 14-1.

Croatia, on the other hand, have endured a difficult start to their Nations League campaign, with a defeat and a draw. In the previous game against France, Andrej Kramaric scored a late equaliser from the penalty spot after Adrien Rabiot had put the Les Blues ahead early in the second half. Zlatko Dalic’s side doesn’t have a great record in the Nations League, having won just two of their 12 games since the competition began in 2018 and have conceded at least two goals in nine of those games. Meanwhile the Checkered Ones have won only one of their four games in 2022.

Probable Lineups

Denmark will be without striker Kasper Dolberg, who suffered a shoulder injury in the France win. Playmaker Christian Eriksen played full 90 minutes of the last two games and so could be handed some rest, with Mikkel Damsgaard getting a start.

As for Croatia, Ivan Perisic is the main abesntee beacuse of injury. The midfield-trio of Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic will be the key for Dalic’s side. Last game’s goal-scorer Kramaric is expected to come back into the starting XI in place of Ante Budimir.

Denmark probable starting lineup: Schmeichel, Anderson, Vestergaard, Nelsson, Kristensen, Hojbjerg, Delaney, Maehle, Damsgaard, Braithwaite, Cornelius

Croatia possible starting lineup: Livakovic, Vrsaljko, Caleta-Car, Pongracic, Sosa, Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic, Majer, Kramaric, Brekelo.
