All eyes are now on the transfer market as Cristiano Ronaldo is set to leave Juventus, which was confirmed by the Italian club’s manager Max Allegri. He is now angling for a move to the Premier League. Reports suggest that Manchester United and Manchester City have been in contact with Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes. Initially it was said to be that City have been in contact with him over the past few days, after news broke out that Ronaldo wanted to leave. But Manchester City now look to be out of the race to sign the Portugal captain, according to Football insider Fabrizio Romano.

“Manchester City are completely out of the negotiations for Cristiano Ronaldo. They also communicated the same to Juventus and Jorge Mendes.” tweeted Fabrizio Romano

RONALDO’S AGENT IN A “TENSE” MEETING WITH JUVENTUS

Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, held what was a described as a “tense” meeting in Turin with Juventus about his client’s future. The Juve board told Mendes, who is now in Porto, that the club has no intention to let Ronaldo leave on a free transfer.

Reports from Sky Sports suggested the Portugal captain spent an hour and a half at Juve’s Continassa training ground on Friday morning to empty his locker and say goodbye to his teammates.

The 36-year-old Ronaldo came off the bench in Juventus’ season opener against Udinese to start his 20th season as a professional and had a late winner in that match disallowed by VAR. Romano reports that Ronaldo didn’t start the match because he wanted to seek other options as we’re less than a week away from the transfer deadline.

WHAT THE JUVENTUS MANAGER SAID?

Cristiano Ronaldo “has no intention of staying at Juventus”, manager Max Allegri admitted at a news conference to preview Juve’s upcoming clash with Empoli.

“Yesterday, talking to Cristiano, he told me that he has no intention of staying at Juventus,” Allegri told a press conference. “For this reason he will not be called up for tomorrow’s game [against Empoli in Serie A].

“Things change, it’s a law of life. Juventus remains, which is the most important thing. Cristiano gave his contribution, he made himself available, now he leaves and life goes on.

“Cristiano is to be thanked for what he has done, also as an example amongst the youngsters, but as I said, we must go on.”

LAST DANCE FOR RONALDO AND MAN UTD?

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said the door is open if he ever wanted to move.

“Cristiano Ronaldo? We’ve always had a good communication. Bruno has been talking to him as well and he knows what we feel about him. If he was ever going to move away from Juventus, he knows WE ARE HERE”.

“Cristiano is a legend of this club, the greatest player of all time if you ask me. I was fortunate enough to play with him. I coached him when I got my job. Let’s see what happens”
