Coventry had a disappointing start to the 2023-24 Championship campaign, recording just one win from their first eight league matches, while drawing five fixtures in the period. Nevertheless, the Sky Blues managed to turn their fortunes with a 3-1 win away to Queens Park Rangers on September 30 thanks to Ellis Simms’s second-half brace and one goal from Josh Eccles on the hour mark. Four days later, Mark Robins’ side secured a narrow victory over Blackburn through Haji Wright’s lone goal five minutes from time. Two of their three wins this term have come at the Coventry Building Society Arena, while Coventry are also unbeaten at home this season.
Norwich, on the other hand, began their new season impressively, taking ten points from their first four Championship games. But since their first second tier defeat away to Rotherham United on September 2, the Canaries have struggled, losing three of their last four league outings. Norwich ended the month of September with a comprehensive 2-0 win over Birmingham City thanks to second-half efforts from Gabriel Sara and Jonathan Rowe. However, David Wagner’s men suffered their fourth championship defeat of the campaign at Swansea on Wednesday night despite the fact that Sara got on the scoresheet.
