Prior to that, the Indomitable Lions secured their eighth successive appearance at the World Cup in dramatic style as they edged out Algeria on the away goal rule following a 2-2 aggregate draw. Uzbekistan, on the other hand, registered three wins from as many Group C games to go through the AFC Cup qualifiers. In their last outing against Thailand, Jaloliddin Masharipov and Azizbek Turgunbev netted for the White Wolves to secure the win. It was Uzbekistan’s fifth consecutive win across all competitions.
Cameroon boss Rigobert Song has named a strong 26-man squad for the friendlies in September. Veteran defender Nicolas Akoulou could lead the back-three consisting of Tolo and Castelletto. Vincent Aboubakar is expected to lead the line alongside Mbeumo and Ekanbi. As for Uzbekistan, Roma player Eldor Shomurodov could spearhead the attack alongside experienced Igor Sergeyev.
