Manchester United are going through a difficult phase at the moment and will be keen to overturn it as soon as possible. The Red Devils have lost three games on the bounce in different competitions. They have lost to Arsenal, Brighton and Bayern Munich. Hence, their next game away to Burnley in the Premier League is extremely important. Manager Erik ten Hag will not only be keen for a response but will also be eager to see a good performance from his side.

However, it will not be easy since Burnley are also going through a difficult run of spell. Hence, they will be keen to get the win in front of their supporters at Turf Moor. As a result, Manchester United have to be at the top of their game to get anything out of the match. Not to mention the massive injury issues United are currently facing. It is unclear among Harry Maguire, Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and Raphael Varane, who all could be fit to be involved on Saturday night in the Premier League fixture.

“Maybe, as you say, Harry Maguire. We will see better after training [on Friday afternoon]. But Varane will train and we will see. Amrabat, he will train and we will see. Mount, as well, but they all didn’t play for a short or longer term. Varane, obviously, was the shortest [time] out,” ten Hag, quoted by the club’s website, said ahead of the match. When asked whether he has got specific timescales for those players who are out with long-term injuries, he replied, “Of course, we have plans also. We have plans for that. We have prognosis, but I don’t want to share them.”

Ten Hag went on to explain how they defend and attack as 11 players on the pitch. When asked whether does it start from trying to tighten up at the back, he replied, “No, it’s about 11 players who do their job. As I said many times, here in this place and I tell my players. We attack with 11, we defend with 11. When one or two are not doing the job, it’s like a pack of cards and then it is not only one or two players.”

The Manchester United manager then shifted his focus to Burnley and spoke about what he expects from them. “As always, it’s about how we play against Burnley. There is never any easy games and definitely not against Burnley, we know how intense they play football, I know their approach. I must say, I like the approach from them, the adventure and the high intensity and also the dynamic in their game. So, yeah, we have to play out best,” he explained.
