Manchester United and Brentford shared the spoils after an entertaining contest between the two sides finished 1-1. In a game where United started decently but it quickly slipped out of their control. It was all Brentford after that, with the home side completely dominating the proceedings. The hosts came close to taking the lead on multiple occasions but goalkeeper Andre Onana, posts and poor finishing denied them from getting the breakthrough.

Just when it seemed like the Premier League contest would end goalless, Manchester United took the lead against the run of play. Following a neat move, Casemiro set up Mason Mount, who calmly slotted it into the bottom corner in the injury time. However, Brentford fought back to instantly get an equaliser through Kristoffer Ajer in the dying minutes of the match. With hardly any time left after that, the contest ended 1-1.

After the fixture, United goalkeeper Andre Onana expressed his disappointment with the result. “I feel sad because we are Manchester United, so it doesn’t matter who you play. Everywhere we go, we have to win. We gave away this game in the end. We did a fantastic job defending – it was not our best game – but the most important thing was to win. So, yeah, it’s difficult,” he told the club media.

We have to continue working hard: Andre Onana

Despite producing a brilliant performance in between the posts, Onana was unable to hide the disappointment of conceding the late equaliser. “The most important thing is the victory of the team. It’s good when you contribute and you have a victory. Of course, we didn’t lose this game, but the way we conceded that goal is bad for all of us because we are in this together. We blocked shots and made saves together. It’s difficult. As a leader and experienced player, we have to take responsibility and always stay positive because it’s the biggest club in the country. We have to continue working hard, be humble, and I know we will stick together because we did it in the last month. I hope we end in the top four,” he explained.

Meanwhile, manager Erik ten Hag also heaped praise on Onana, as he spoke about how his side should have seen the game out better after taking the late lead. “I thought we were good in certain situations and when we were winning, we didn’t deserve it, but we should take the winning and do so more often. We were fighting and we created some great chances and Andre Onana was fantastic tonight. Rasmus Hojlund had a great chance. When you make the winning goal that is when you must bring it over the line. I am very pleased for Mason [Mount] but I also feel sorry for him as it should have been the winner,” ten Hag told various media outlets after the match.
