Liverpool came from behind to register an important 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in an action-packed Premier League encounter. It has become a constant theme for the Reds to frequently rally from a deficit and get the three points. Jurgen Klopp’s side have done it many times this season hence there was not much panic among their supporters’ base when Danny Welbeck put the visitors in front at the start of the match.

It did not take long for Liverpool to get back to level terms after Luis Diaz scored the equaliser midway through the first half. With no more goals to come, the game finished 1-1 at the break. The Reds came back from the dressing room for the second half with real purpose and pushed for the winner, which came from Mohamed Salah. Alexis Mac Allister, who had joined Liverpool last summer from Brighton, had created the match-winner for Salah.

After the game, the Argentine World Cup-winning midfielder spoke about his delight with the team’s comeback. He started by praising the mentality of his players for not panicking despite going behind to an early goal. “I would rather not concede so early! But the mentality of the boys is amazing, that’s what you need when you are 1-0 down. Today we showed it again. But, as I said, next time we have to try to start winning and not losing,” he told Sky Sports after the Premier League fixture.

Mac Allister then heaped praise on his former side and explained how difficult it was to face Brighton especially after the bad start they had. “We didn’t start as we wanted but it was an amazing game, we played against an unbelievable team. I know them very well, I know what they can do. It was a tough match but at the end we won it, so we are very happy,” he explained.

The midfielder also gave an insight into his recent conversations with Salah, as he expressed his happiness with the Egyptian scoring the second goal, which eventually turned out to be the winner. “Yeah, he has been asking for some passes and assists from me during the week! In the first half we tried to be connected, I played a few passes to him. Second half he scored; that’s the mentality he showed because in the first half he missed a couple but then in the second half he showed his quality,” he elaborated.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp found a lot of positives from the game. He also had reserved special words of praise for the Argentine midfielder. “I saw a lot of special performances today. Yes, Macca was incredible – absolutely incredible – but when you have that kind of talent, when you have that kind of character, then you should show it. It’s Macca, he can do that – so do it. That’s Conor [Bradley], that’s [Jarell] Quansah, that’s Wataru, that’s Dom… they are that good. That’s Joe Gomez. The boys are good, so show it,” he stated.
