Arsenal will be keen to build on the positive point they gained at the Etihad Stadium when they host Luton Town for an interesting Premier League contest. The Gunners produced a defensive masterclass against Manchester City at the weekend to get a priceless point from a ground where teams normally struggle to get anything out of the match. With Arsenal very much involved in the title race, every point counts from now until the end of the season.

Next up for the Gunners is a home game against Luton Town in the Premier League. On paper, Arsenal should be the clear-cut favourites, thanks to their good form of late. On the other hand, Luton have been involved in a closely-fought relegation battle after being promoted to the top division. While squad quality and depth are clearly in favour of the home side, Luton cannot be taken lightly, as they have made lives difficult for many teams this season.

Is Bukayo Saka fit to start?

Ahead of the contest, Mikel Arteta gave an update on some of his stars. He started by providing an update on the chances of Bukayo Saka starting this game. “Yeah, he’s fine. Obviously, we haven’t trained, we’ve recovered and have a short live session today to prepare for the game, and we’ll see whether he’s in the best condition to start or not,” Arteta, quoted on Arsenal.com, said ahead of the game.

The attention then shifted to a winger from the opposite flank, Gabriel Martinelli. The manager was asked whether the Brazilian is capable of playing the entire 90 minutes. “He is because he was available to play against a really tough opponent three days ago. Again, we’ll train today and see the state of every player and make the right decision tomorrow,” he explained.

Arteta also provided an update on Jurrien Timber’s recovery. The Dutch defender has been out with an injury since the start of the season. “He’s doing very well, he’s back training. He’s not far off, but the thing is that last step, he hasn’t played any minutes so does he need a game with the under-21s, does he need two games? We are going to have to see, especially because he’s training with us and we need to see how long that will take him. That last part is tricky and sometimes takes a while. Hopefully, as soon as possible,” he explained. Asked about Timber’s chances of playing for the main team this campaign, he replied, “I think he has a good chance. I don’t know the percentage, but I think he has a good chance and he’s going to push it as far as he possibly can.”

Notably, Arsenal are going strong in the Premier League and Champions League. Hence, their supporters can expect to witness some memorable days in the coming weeks. “This is where we want to be and now we want to take this opportunity and make it happen. We work every single day with enthusiasm and passion to make it happen and enjoy the moment as well. I see the team really flowing and they are really excited about playing these games and that’s what our drive has to be to the end of the season,” Arteta said.
