Brighton & Hove Albion will start their preparations for the 2022-23 English Premier League season with a friendly against Belgian outfit Union SG at the Elite Football Performance Centre on Saturday evening. The visitors are heading into the tie on the back of two wins from their last three games, all of them were friendlies. Meanwhile the most recent outing against Racing, ended in a 2-2 draw. Brighton on the other hand, had a very good 2021-22 Premier League season, finishing ninth in the points table and they will be hoping to better that number in the upcoming season, beginning with a clash against Manchester United on August 7.

Last season, Brighton were just five points behind seventh-placed West Ham United, who secured the final Europa Conference League spot. The Seagulls would be aiming to challenge for a European spot in the coming season, and they have already made two attacking signings, bringing in Julio Enciso and Simon Adingra. Graham Potter’s side will take on Estoril, Reading, Brentford and Espanyol in their four friendly matches after this one before the league opener against the Red Devils.
Union SG, on the other hand, have already played three friendlies, beginning with victories over Rebecq (2-1) and Deinze (1-0) before sharing the spoils against Racing Union Luxembourg.Last season, Karel Geraerts’ side finished second in the Belgian First Division A. The Belgian outfit has won the first Division A title on 11 occasions and would be aiming to make it 12 in the coming season.

Brighton boss Potter is expected to rotate his squad in order to give ample game-time to all the players and have a closer look at the new recruits. Central defender Lewis Dunk could captain the side with Webster partnering him in the heart of the defence. Danny Welbeck and Neal Maupay would lead the attack with Trossard and Gross occupying the flanks. As for Union SG, new signings Ross Sykes and Lazare Amani are likely to feature against the English outfit. Nielsen, Teuma and Puertas could form the midfield-trio.
