Brighton & Hove Albion will host Manchester United in a Premier League fixture at Falmer Stadium on Thursday. This will be the second meeting between these two sides in the space of two weeks time, with the Red Devils prevailing 7-6 on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final clash on April 23. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of victories last weekend, with the hosts thrashing Wolverhampton Wanderers 6-0, while United edged past Aston Villa 1-0. As of now, the Seagulls are occupying eighth spot in the English top flight standings, having collected 52 points from 31 games, just four points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool, but have two games in hand. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting at the third position, with 63 points to their name from 32 matches.

Brighton put six goals past Wolves last time out courtesy of a brace each from Danny Welbeck, Deniz Undav and Pascal Gross. It was the Seagulls’s 15th top flight victory of the season. Roberto de Zerbi’s side have been inconsistent in the last couple of weeks, winning one then losing one in the Premier League. Prior to the victory over Wolves, the Seagulls suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest. On a positive note, Brighton are unbeaten in their last seven league-matches at Falmer Stadium, recording six wins and a draw in the period. Meanwhile, the Seagulls secured a 2-1 win over Erik Ten Hag’s side in the reverse fixture in August last year.

Manchester United, on the other hand, would be high on confidence after securing all three points against in-form side Aston Villa, who went into Sunday’s game on the back of a ten game unbeaten streak. Bruno Fernandes’s lone goal in the first half separated the two sides at Old Trafford and helped Ten Hag’s men secure their 19th league-win of the season. Securing Champions League qualification via their league position is imperative for Red Devils given their Europa League exit at the hands of Sevilla. Meanwhile, United have won only two of their seven top flight away matches in 2023 and their previous visit to Amex ended in a 4-0 defeat last season.
