Arsenal have maintained their title push by securing an impressive 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion away from home. The Gunners are involved in a hectic three-way title race with Manchester City and Liverpool. There is not much to separate these sides, with all of them going strongly as the season is nearing its end. In such a scenario, every point counts hence the North London outfit would be extremely pleased with getting the win on Saturday.

Brighton & Hove Albion is not an easy place for any side to go. With their brave and aggressive brand of football, they are capable of making life difficult for any side, home or away in the division. However, Arsenal produced a professional display from start to finish, as they comfortably got past the Brighton challenge. It was Bukayo Saka’s penalty midway through the first half that helped the Gunners take the lead.

Bukayo Saka on his return to action

Goals from Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard in the second period were enough for Arsenal to secure a resounding win. There were many positives to take from the match. One of the most notable ones was Saka’s return to action after he missed the win over Luton Town. “I was really excited to be back here today and to win as well, so it’s nice. And obviously, I want to get in a rhythm because we have some big games coming up,” Saka, quoted on Arsenal.com, said after the match.

Arsenal were also involved in the title race last campaign and were also leading the table for most of the campaign. However, at the business end of the season, they dropped some valuable points. Saka feels they are in a much better place now than they were last season. “Yeah, 100 per cent. I feel like we’re in a much better place physically and mentally from last season. We’ve learned big lessons from last year, so we know what we need to do in these games. In these type of games, we need to score early, keep a clean sheet, work hard, and not give away any cheap goals. I feel like recently in 2024, we’ve been so solid, and we’ve been really impressive, so we’re happy with that,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had his say on the game, as he expressed his satisfaction in winning the contest at such a tough ground. “Really happy, really proud of the boys. They put in a big performance to beat this great Brighton side. They haven’t lost here since August and that tells you the difficulty of it, of the task, but we were really good today,” Arteta, quoted on Arsenal.com, said in his post-match press conference.

Arteta then shifted his attention to experienced midfielder Jorginho, as he showered praise on the Italian. Playing at the heart of the midfield, Jorginho did an excellent job for Arsenal both with and without possession. “He was superb. And as well, I think nobody expected him to run into those areas with the ball to assist Kai but I think his leadership, his intelligence, the quality he delivers, I think it makes everybody better. I think today he, Dec and Martin in the middle were outstanding,” he explained.
