Brazil face a tricky South Korean test in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Stadium 974. The Monday night encounter will see the South American nation as the overwhelming favourite, thanks to their impeccable history in the competition and recent good run. Despite losing their final group game against Cameroon, the five-time champions are expected to see off the threat that will be posed by the resilient Asian side. However, Tite’s side will be well aware of the difficult challenge at hand against a side that never gives up till the end, making the contest all the more interesting.

After winning the opening two games in Group G, Brazil were easing through to the last-16 stage. However, a late Vincent Aboubakar goal gave Cameroon an unlikely victory over the five-time champions in their final group game. Despite that blip, Brazil are still expected to find their A-game in time to get the better of their opponents on Monday. On the other hand, South Korea performed miracles to qualify out of Group H. After managing just one point from two games, they found themselves a goal down against Portugal in their final group match. However, an inspired comeback saw them win 2-1 and reach the knockout stage at the expense of Uruguay.

Possible Lineups

Throughout the World Cup, the main talking point for Brazil has been the fitness situation of Neymar. Finally, their fans can have some positive news, as it is reported that the Paris Saint-Germain forward could be in line to make his return against South Korea. However, Brazil have to make do without Alex Telles and Gabriel Jesus for the rest of the tournament. Alex Sandro is also a doubt for the match, hence Danilo could play as a left-back. On the other hand, South Korea could welcome back Kim Min-jae following his minor injury concern. There are also question marks over the participation of Kim Young-gwon and Lee Kang-in.

Brazil possible line-up: Alisson, Militao, Marquinhos, Silva, Danilo, Casemiro, Fred, Paqueta, Raphinha, Vinicius Jr, Richarlison

South Korea possible line-up: Seung-gyu, Moon-hwan, Young-gwon, Min-jae, Jin-su, In-beom, Woo-young, Hee-chan, Kang-in, Heung-min, Gue-sung
