Dortmund didn’t have a great pre-season, winning just two of their five friendlies, while two of them ended in defeats. In their recent outing against 1860 Munich in the domestic cup, Donyell Malen, Jude Bellingham and Karim Adeyemi netted for BVB to go through to the next round. Leverkusen, on the other hand, recorded two wins from their three friendlies this summer, before suffering an embarrassing defeat against SV Elversberg in the DFB-Pokal first round match last Saturday. At Waldstadion an der Kaiserlinde, Adam Holzke, Charles Aranguiz and Patrick Schik netted for the Eternal Bridesmaids.
Dortmund will be without their new signing Sebastian Haller as he is recovering a testicular tumour. Therefore youngster Moussoko could be the target-man up front with Marco Reus in support. Bellingham could partner Dahoud in the central midfield. As for Leverkusen, Florian Wirtz is sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury. New arrival Hlozeck could make his competitive debut for the club, with Moussa Diaby and Schik up front.
Borussia Dortmund probable starting lineup: Kobel; Meunier, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro; Bellingham, Dahoud; Adeyemi, Reus, Malen; Moussaka
Bayern Leverkusen probable starting lineup: Hradecky; Frimpong, Kossounou, Tapsoba, Bakker; Atanguiz, Andrich; Diaby, Armoun, Hlozek; Schick
