Blackpool will host Rangers in a pre-season friendly at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 4-0 defeat against Leeds United last Thursday, while Rangers suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Sunderland in their last outing.  Blackpool didn’t have a great Championship season last term, finishing 16th in the points table. The Scottish outfit, on the other hand, finished second in the Scottish Premier League table and conceded the league title to Celtic.

Rangers had a memorable 2021-22 season. Although they failed to retain the Scottish league title, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side managed to reach the final of Europa League where they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties. Meanwhile the Teddy Bears managed to beat Hearts 2-0 in the Scottish Cup final and secure their only major title of last season. After the Blackpool game, Rangers will face West Ham United and Tottenham before beginning their Scottish League campaign against Livingston on July 30. Blackpool, on the other hand, will take on Salford City and Everton before their Championship opener against Reading on July 30. New boss Michael Appleton’s side began the pre-season with a 2-0 win over Southport before losing 4-0 to Leeds United last Thursday.
