Blackpool will be looking to keep their faint Championship-survival hopes alive when they host Millwall at Bloomfield Road on Friday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win away to Birmingham City last weekend, while the Lions lost 2-1 against rock-bottom side Wigan Athletic. Despite the win, the Seasiders are languishing at the 23rd spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 41 points from 44 games, three drift of safety, but the three teams just above the drop zone have a game in hand. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting at the seventh position, with 65 points to their name, level on points with sixth-placed Sunderland, but separated by goal-difference.

Blackpool secured all three points against Birmingham courtesy of Ivan Poveda’s lone goal in the second-half. It was Tangerines’s tenth second tier win of the season and it was their first Championship success away from home since October last year. Stephen Dobbie’s side know only back-to-back wins in their final games will give them any slither of hope in maintaining their second division status for another season. Meanwhile, Blackpool have recorded six wins, six draws and ten defeats from their 22 league-matches at Bloomfield Road this season.

Millwall, on the other hand, have slipped out of the top six courtesy of back-to-back defeats against Birmingham and Wigan. The Lions lost out to Wigan last Saturday despite the fact that George Saville canceled out Will Keane’s opener. Thelo Asgaard’s 84th-minute effort handed Millwall their 15th league-defeat of the campaign. The Lions have won only one of their last seven outings and that lone success came against Preston North End on April 15. Meanwhile, Gary Rowett’s side got the better of Blackpool in the reverse fixture in September last year thanks to goals from Zian Flemming and Benik Afobe.
