Blackpool will kick-start their EFL Cup campaign against League Two side Barrow on Tuesday. The Championship side had a mixed start to the new season in the English second division, but they should be the favourites in the upcoming clash on paper. Even though Barrow are playing at a division lower than their upcoming opponents, they will still back themselves for producing another upset win following their explosive start to League Two. With a lot of changes expected to happen in both sides’ Starting XI, it could become difficult to call a winner in this clash.

Barrow produced two major upsets in their opening two games in League Two. They defeated Stockport County and Bradford City by a 3-2 margin. Both these teams are expected to be serious contenders for promotion from this division, hence, these victories will give Barrow a massive confidence boost. On the other hand, Blackpool have endured a mixed start to their Championship season. They started with an impressive victory over Reading, however, they were not able to build on that momentum, losing to Stoke City at the weekend.

Possible Lineups

Charlie Patino who joined Blackpool on loan from Premier League club Arsenal could make his maiden start on Tuesday. The 18-year-old talented midfielder could provide the side with something different as they try to improve from their 16th-place finish last season. There, however, are question marks over the participation of Gary Madine. On the other hand, Barrow do not have any significant injury concerns. Despite most of the first team is available for them, they could still rotate the squad massively, something Blackpool might also do.
