Middlesbrough endured a disappointing end to their 2021/22 season. They could manage only two wins to go with two draws and two defeats in their last six games. As a result, they finished seventh with 70 points to their name and couldn’t earn a place in the playoffs. It would have been a big disappointment for a club as big as Middlesbrough and manager, Chris Wilder will be keen to have a better season next time around. The club has already started that process with key signings including Ryan Giles, Darragh Lenihan while a deal for Manchester City goalkeeper, Zack Steffen is reportedly at the final stages.
Bishop Auckland, on the other hand will be hoping for a better campaign in 2022/23 after having narrowly escaped relegation to Northern League Division Two last season. They finished 18th with just 35 points and will undoubtedly look for improvements. They also hosted Middlesbrough during last year’s pre-season friendlies and fell to a 3-0 defeat. While a similar outcome is expected this time around, Bishop Auckland would be keen at causing a major upset.
