Benfica secured all three points against Rio Ave last time out, thanks to Goncalo Ramos’ lone goal early in the second half. The result extended the Eagles’ winning streak to eight games across all competitions and it was their 23rd top flight victory of the season. Roger Schmidt’s side have kept five clean sheets and scored a whopping 23 goals in their last eight outings. Benfica have been impressive on home soil and their travel, but their unbeaten run at the Estadio da Luz is stunning, as they have won 18 and drawn two of their 20 games in front of their own supporters across all competitions. Ramos and Joao Mario have score 17 league-goals each and are leading the race for the Golden Boot, which tells a lot about why the Eagles have the best offensive record in Portugal’s top division.
Porto, on the other hand, have lost only two games since the turn of year and one of those defeats came against Inter Milan (1-0) in the Champions League which resulted in their exit from the tournament. But the Dragons have been very good in the league, having lost only three of their 26 top flight games this term. Last time out, Sergio Conceicao’s men secured their 19th league-win of the season against Portimonense at home thanks to Fabio Cardoso’s lone goal on the half-hour mark. Meanwhile, Porto have lost just one of their last 10 O Classico, and they are heading into the match on the back of a 11-game unbeaten streak on the road.
