Belgium will host Wales in a UEFA Nations League fixture at the King Baudouin stadium on Thursday night. Both sides were last in action in June, with the hosts securing a narrow 1-0 win over Poland, while Wales lost to Netherlands 3-2. The victory helped the Red Devils to move to seven points from their opening four games and occupy second position in League A Group 4. Wales, meanwhile, are sitting at the bottom of the standings, having collected just a solitary point so far.

The Red Devils have had to play catch-up throughout this group, and they will be relatively satisfied that their fate remains in their own hands given the manner of the upcoming results. Belgium began their 2022-23 Nations League campaign with a 4-1 defeat to Netherlands, before quickly getting their acts together to get the better of Poland, home and away, on either side of a 1-1 draw against wales. In their last game against Poland on June 15, Michy Batshuayi’s lone goal in the 16th-minute was enough to separate the two sides at the National Stadium in Warsaw.

Wales, on the other hand, have a very slim chance of progressing to the next round, therefore head coach Robert Page is likely to use the remaining two Nations League games as a preparation for the upcoming World Cup finals in Qatar in two months’ time and avoid relegation to Tier B. Meanwhile Wales’ lone point thus far came against Belgium in the reverse fixture, when Brennan Johnson’s 86th-minute strike canceled out Youri Tielemans’ opener at Cardiff City Stadium.

Kieffer Moore could be the target-man up front with Norrington-Davies and Neco Williams occupying the flanks.
