Poland will host Netherlands in a UEFA Nations League fixture at the National Stadium Warsaw on Thursday night. Both sides were last in action in June, with the hosts suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Belgium, while Netherlands beat Wales 3-2. The victory helped the Dutch to move to the summit of League A Group 4, having pocketed 10 points from four games. Poland, meanwhile, are sitting at the third position, with four points, three behind second-placed Belgium.

Poland began their 2022-23 Nations League campaign with a 2-1 win over Wales, but since then, managed to earn just one point from a possible nine available. In their last match against the Red Devils, Michy Batshuayi’s lone goal in the 16th-minute was enough to separate the two sides in Warsaw. Czesław Michniewicz’s side have a very slim chance of going through to the next round, therefore, Poland are likely to use their final two Nations League games as preparation for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar starting from November.
Netherlands, on the other hand, are in a strong position to secure a top spot in the group and progress to the semi-finals of the competition. Oranje have registered three wins and one draw thus far. In their last match against Wales, goals from Noa Lang, Cody Gakpo and Memphis Depay helped the Dutch Eleven secure all three points. Louis Van Gaal’s side are currently enjoying a 13-game unbeaten run, dating back to June last year when they lost 2-0 to Czech Republic in the knockout rounds of Euro 2020.

Poland boss Michniewicz is likely to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation, with talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski, who has already scored 11 goals in eight games for Barcelona this season, expected to lead the line. Przemyslaw Frankowski and Nicola Zalewski could support the veteran up front. As for Netherlands, Virgil van Dijk, Matthija De Ligt and Stefan de Vrij are likely to form the back-three with Denzel Dumfries and Tyrell Malacia occupying the flanks. Barcelona-man Memphis Depay could lead the line alongside Gakpo.
Poland probable starting lineup: Szczęsny, Bereszyński, Bednarek, Kiwior, Reca, Krychowiak, Linetty, Frankowski, Zieliński, Zalewski, Lewandowski
Netherlands probable starting lineups: Cillessen, De Ligt, Van Dijk, de Vrij, Dumfries, Berghuis, Koopmeiners, F. de Jong, Malacia, Gakpo, Depay
