Arsenal Sarandi will come up against Talleres Cordoba at the Estadio Julio Humberto Grondona on Saturday. The match will see 22nd-placed Arsenal seeking to pick up their first win of the season after a run of two consecutive defeats and get their Argentine Primera Division campaign up and running. Arsenal will  be heading into the tie on the back of a thrilling 3-3 draw when playing away match against San Lorenzo that went down on June 14. Talleres, on the other hand, suffered a second consecutive defeat for the first time since April last time out when they were beaten 1-0 by Newell’s Old Boys on home turf. Meanwhile the previous meeting between the two sides ended with a score of 2-0 to Talleres in July, 2021.

Arsenal showed great fighting spirit in their previous encounter against San Lorenzo to come from behind to secure a point. Arsenal took the lead through Lucas Suarez before Nestor Ortigoza, Jalil Elias and Ivan Leguizamon scored in succession for the hosts. However, Arsenal substitute Cristian Colman netted twice in a two-minute spell to force a share of the spoils. Prior to that, Leonardo Madelon’s side suffered a 2-1 loss to the mighty Boca Juniors in the season-opener on June 5 before playing out a goalless draw with Banfield six days later.

Talleres displayed a disappointing performance against Newell’s Old Boys to lose their second consecutive game with an identical scoreline of 1-0. Ramiro Sordo scored the lone goal of the match inside the opening one minute to hand the defeat to the hosts. Meanwhile Talleres played the second-half with a man-less as central defender Rafael Perez was sent off on the stroke of half-time. Prior to that, Lucas Romero’s lone strike handed Talleres their first defeat of the season at Independiente on June 6. This poor run of form could be pinned to their lack of spark in the final third. Pedro Caixinha’s side registered just one shot on target against Newwell’s.
