Nottingham Forest have announced their latest summer recruit – Anthony Elanga from Manchester United. The 21-year-old winger, who is capable of playing on both flanks, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal. He broke through at a young age for the Red Devils and has already scored some vital goals for the Old Trafford outfit. Elanga is also known for his impressive work rate, which makes him an ideal fit at The City Ground.

After signing the new contract, Anthony Elanga expressed his happiness to join Nottingham Forest for the coming season. “It’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a proud moment, not only for me, but for my family as well. It’s the perfect next step for me in my career, it’s a big step and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at The City Ground,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s website.

“I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place. I’ve been here with United, and from the minute I stepped out for the warm-up, I could hear them from the changing room. It’s a special place, but being here with Forest, I feel like it will be even more special. I’m really ready for the challenge and I just want to embrace everything and get to work.”

Why did Anthony Elanga choose Nottingham Forest?

Elanga attracted plenty of interest from other clubs but he ended up choosing Forest instead. Detailing the reason behind it, he said, “For me, looking at the history of the club and the importance of the manager as well, who I’ve known since I was young. It’s the right step for me. He is one of the managers I’ve been with before, I’ve spoken to him before and speaking to him recently, I just felt this was the right thing to do. I had interest from other places, but for me, Nottingham Forest was the perfect place for me.”

The Swedish winger then spoke about his conversation with Forest manager Steve Cooper before joining the club. “As soon as I spoke to him, I just felt it straight away. I didn’t want to jinx anything, but I just felt it straight away. He knows me because he’s seen me play before, and I feel like together, we can get this group to click. I feel like his philosophy will really flourish this season and I’m ready to be part of that team,” he added.
