Later on, Lee’s All England Open performance propelled him to No. 10 on March 17, 2020, in the world rankings. Lee has reached a career-high ranking of world number 7. In 2023, Lee started his playing season on his home turf only. However, he was defeated by the new prodigal talent from Japan Kodai Naraoka. Later on, Lee was even called to captain the Malaysian National Badminton team in the 2023 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships. In the round-robin stage, he won against Bharath Lateesh of the United Arab Emirates. However, he could not stand against H.S. Prannoy of India. Already the baton of leading the team has been put on the shoulders of Lee and now it’s up to the 25-year-old shuttler to prove it in the big stage.
