The 24-year-old George is seeded third and starts against compatriot Sathish Kumar Karunakaran. S Subramanian, the 2022 World Junior Championships silver medallist and Mithun Manjunath, who accounted for World Championships silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth at the Thailand Masters, are also in the fray.

Indian badminton player Priyanshu Rajawat won the men’s singles crown last year but won’t compete at this year’s Orleans Masters. Instead, world No. 29 Rajawat will play at the All England Open BWF Super 1000 event this week to boost his rankings before the qualification window for the Olympics closes next month.

Furthermore, the world No. 1 men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will also not compete at Orleans. In their absence, MR Arjun-Dhruv Kapila, seeded fifth, will be India’s top-rated pair. On the other hand, women’s doubles features Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker. Both of them will start as the second seeds. B Sumeeth Reddy-N Sikki Reddy, unseeded, will compete in mixed doubles.
