The Diamond League Doha 2023 will be featuring fourteen events that will offer qualification points.
One of the premier athletics competitions’ Wanda Diamond League will kick-off with the first leg of the competition to take place on May 5, 2023. The League is made up of 15 premier one-day track and field competitions that feature 16 major male and female sports disciplines.
Athletes accumulate points at 14 series events between May and September, and the top finishers in each discipline qualify for the Wanda Diamond League Final. Athletes are awarded points at each series meeting depending on their finishes in the top eight positions (8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, or 1 point, respectively). The top six finishers in field events, the top eight finishers in 100 to 800 m races, and the top ten finishers in 1500 m and long-distance races constitute the finalists.
In case of a tie, the participant with the best legal performance during the season is given an advantage. During the final, qualified athletes compete in a winner-take-all match for the position of Wanda Diamond League champion in each of their fields. The winner in each category receives a coveted Diamond Trophy title, US$ 30,000 in cash prize, and a wild card to the World Athletics Championships which depends on certain regulations.
