Roman Reigns suffered an injury in his Tribal Combat battle against Jey Uso for the undisputed WWE worldwide title at SummerSlam.
Undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns and undisputed WWE tag team champion Sami Zayn are reportedly both dealing with injuries as a result of SummerSlam. Reigns suffered an unexplained injury early on in his Tribal Combat battle against Jey Uso for the undisputed WWE worldwide title at SummerSlam last weekend.
As reported by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News). While Reigns labored through the contest in pain, Meltzer stated that he is anticipated to be OK to appear on Friday night’s SmackDown programme. Jimmy Uso’s meddling allowed Reigns to win Tribal Combat, costing his twin brother both the world championship and the post of Tribal Chief. Jimmy Uso is expected to explain his conduct on Friday and even declare his support to Reigns.
Regarding Zayn, it is said that WWE used an injury angle on Monday night’s broadcast of Raw to cover for a real injury. According to Meltzer (via Upton), Zayn has a bursa sac problem, which is why, after being attacked by JD McDonagh backstage, he seemed to have a significant knot on his elbow. Zayn was supposed to join up with Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes to face The Judgement Day in the main event of Raw, but Shinsuke Nakamura took his place after he was unable to obtain the necessary clearances.

Sami still participated physically in the main event by attacking Damian Priest and assisting the Rollins, Rhodes, and Nakamura trio in winning. Zayn’s tag team teammate Kevin Owens also has an injury, according to Meltzer, which is why they were left off the SummerSlam schedule. Sami and KO’s Tag Team Championships have remained on them since WWE believed Owens’ absence would only be temporary, but Meltzer noted that it is currently unknown how long Zayn will be absent and whether they will lose their belts.
