Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon refused to give up their premium live event debut because Meta-Four employed cheap techniques to stay in the game. They eliminated Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson, which allowed Dragon Lee to win with a running tilt-a-whirl reverse DDT on Oro Mensah. This was a wonderful show opening because everyone brought everyone they could to this event. Nathan Frazer and Noam Dar did not engage as much as planned, but that just serves to prepare them for their upcoming Heritage Cup match.

It was evident that Leon and Feroz, who are still improving, intended to capitalize on the best use of this opportunity. NXT should give them a crack at Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville shortly. Dragon urgently requires a larger spotlight. He might have prevailed, but he was still dwarfed by his competitors. More solo matches from the luchador are especially needed.

NXT Tag Team Championships

Even with several tricks at their disposal, Gallus was unable to maintain control of the match. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo swooped on Mark Coffey, and Wolfgang then drew in Wolfgang to set up Bada Boom, Bada Bing for the win. The game was entertaining. Nobody performed anything extraordinary, yet these men kept the action moving at a breakneck pace for nine minutes. Joe Coffey interacted in opportune ways that never detracted from the main drama.

Gallus had a successful stint with the tag team titles, but it was time for him to move on. The Family has formed a tag team and has the crowd’s support. After two months of not seeing The Don in a wrestling ring, there needed to be a payout before he was ultimately given gold. Several years ago, NXT identified four men as the company’s future leaders. Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes were awarded the NXT Championship. Grayson Waller was quickly promoted to the main roster. It’s finally The Don’s turn to shine.

Roxanne Perez vs. Blair Davenport

Roxanne Perez would not be refused in front of her relatives in her hometown. She assaulted Blair Davenport with weapons and was met with the same in response. However, The Prodigy’s “killer instinct” kicked in, and he secured the victory with Pop Rox on steel chairs. For these two adversaries, round two was substantially better than round one. The pace had quickened. The action was more vivid. For the Texas crowd, the right woman triumphed at the right time.

This was just what The Prodigy needed to get back on track. She was able to demonstrate that she can perform at an advanced level with a level of tenacity she had not previously demonstrated. It would not be shocking if Perez faced Tiffany Stratton at No Mercy. It could even lead to The Prodigy regaining the title reign she deserved the first time around.

Gable Steveson vs. Baron Corbin

Gable Steveson and Baron Corbin seemed more concerned with inflicting pain on each other than with winning the match. That happened as the referee counted them out outdoors. After the bell, the two continued to brawl until the Olympic Gold Medalist stood tall. This was a lackluster brawl that ended in a draw. Steveson didn’t look horrible, but he also didn’t impress. He appeared to be an NXT Superstar with a long way to go before putting it all together.

It didn’t help that Steveson was thrust in front of a hostile audience that clearly wasn’t impressed with him despite all the buzz. Instead of a controlled Performance Centre crowd, this should have happened on an episode of NXT. The post-match was better than the game, and it would have been preferable to have that tempo from the start. Perhaps the rematch will go better.

NXT North American Championship

Even with Rhea Ripley getting in the way, Wes Lee gave Dominik Mysterio his absolute best effort. However, Mami dragged Ali outside and set up Dirty Dom to take it with a frog splash after Mustafa Ali had struck Lee with the 450 splash. Lee took advantage of the show at every expensive live event before he lost his title, and he did it again. This incredible triple threat was leagues above the competition before it. It was Dirty Dom’s best ring appearance to date.

Working alongside two men who are competitive and motivated at their highest levels also helps. Lee has long been the face of the North American Championship scene, and his 2023 may rank among the finest of any WWE Superstar. Mysterio maintaining the title will keep everyone talking about NXT. While Ali missed out on a significant opportunity as Dirty Dom won the gold, he may grow even more as a result of this given his ability to work with all three companies.

NXT Women’s Championship

Tiffany Stratton successfully used a variety of submission holds during her match. She performed the Prettiest Moonsault Ever after breaking many Kimura Locks, then she was trapped in a Boston crab that Thea Hail was unable to free. When Hail wouldn’t give up, Andre Chase quit. Duke Hudson appeared irritated at Chase’s lack of faith in his pupil. Even though the technical aspects of the match weren’t the prettiest, the audience was engaged the entire time. Both of the women put up a valiant fight and mesh well.

Stratton put a lot of effort during this battle, but she plainly showed that submissions are not her strong suit. Because she was unable to lock it in, the Boston crab shouldn’t have been the winner. On a match that was superior to the sum of its parts, that was the sole imperfection. With the fans on their corner, these two Superstars are extremely skilled. They only have room to improve. Hail is not ready, so it was clear what to do. She had, however, appeared more prepared than ever in the previous month. She’ll have her chance.

NXT Championship: Ilja Dragunov vs. Carmelo Hayes

This actual conflict fulfilled all of its promises. Early on, Ilja Dragunov began to chop at Carmelo Hayes’ chest, turning it crimson. When neither appeared to be able to advance any farther, Trick Williams recruited a friend to psych him up. At ringside, the Czar attempted to tackle the champion but instead collided with Trick and the NXT Championship. In order to win, The A Champion needed to hit Nothin’ But Net in the ring. Melo had always been good, but up until this match, he had not quite attained that “great” level. The final three minutes of his bouts found that top gear, which his earlier matches had lacked.

Both men did an amazing job with this. The WWE match-of-the-year list now includes yet another NXT contest. Both men might have earned this and deserved to, but it’s obvious that NXT likes The A Champion a little bit better right now. There could be a rematch, and it might be even better, with a rather shady conclusion. Hopefully, Melo will continue to test himself in physical competitions, improving his performance. If he succeeds, he will swiftly advance to champion status on the main roster as well.

The Show

The NXT brand’s Great American Bash was yet another excellent premium live event. Remarkable main encounter featuring Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov undoubtedly elevated it. It was a card that provided far beyond what was first promised, though. They put up a lot of effort. The competitors’ careers were highlighted by a number of contests. The second match of the night, between Dominik Mysterio and Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali, was a great one. During a night of hardworking action, Roxanne Perez vs. Blair Davenport provided fans with new hardcore action.

Thea Hail vs. Tiffany Stratton served as a preview of the women’s division’s future. The Family’s defeat of Gallus to capture the NXT Tag Team Championships paved the way for a brand-new tag team division. The only thing that was missing were seconds after the action. NXT continues to require to do more in terms of building tension with upcoming title challengers despite the fact that the majority of titles were held and the majority of those defenses lacked drama. This was one of NXT’s most reliable top-down events in recent years, especially if the Gable Steveson debut was taken off the schedule, which it definitely should have been.
