Big E eventually winning the WWE Championship was one of the biggest ‘feel good’ moments in WWE in 2021. Big E was finally on top of WWE after cashing in the Money in the Bank contract after years of incredible performances as part of The New Day and a strong reign as Intercontinental Champion. With a win over Drew McIntyre and a strong showing at Survivor Series versus Roman Reigns, he’d established he belonged — but then came WWE Day One. Brock Lesnar was crowned WWE Champion, while Big E was sent to the bottom of the roster.

Big E’s return to tag team competition with Kofi Kingston has not gone down well in the WWE locker room, despite the fact that he is one of the most well-known personalities in the company. Despite his love for the New Day, Big E has stated that returning to tag team competition would be a significant step down in his WWE career.

He rose to the top and shown that he had all of the necessary qualities to be a superstar – but WWE failed to notice, and he is now back in the tag team ranks. Wade Keller, a wrestling journalist, reached out to sources within WWE regarding this and had the following to say about the atmosphere within WWE in regards to Big E.

“I’ve asked around, and all I’ve gotten is people who are really upset, you know, with the rug being pulled out from under him…one person just described him as a magnificent human being who doesn’t deserve this treatment.”

The remaining of the New Day will follow if Big E leaves

For Wrestlemania, it appears like WWE is leaning toward a champion vs. champion bout between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Not only do audiences as a whole not want to witness this bout, but the notion that Big E had lost the WWE Championship to help establish the unclear road to this rematch also doesn’t sit well with them.

We could just keep hoping that WWE recognizes Big E as a legitimate star before it’s too late. If he stays on as a tag team member when his contract expires, he is unlikely to stay with the club. If Big E goes, it’s quite probable that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods would follow suit.
