Former WWE Champion Big E is “officially” back on the blue brand, according to backstage journalist Kayla Braxton on the penultimate episode of WWE SmackDown before the 2022 Royal Rumble. WWE’s official Twitter account confirmed the change shortly after the interview with The New Day members, bringing him back together with his New Day compatriots of Kingston and the temporarily injured King Xavier Woods.

Later, in tag team action on SmackDown, the New Day’s team fought Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss. The New Day would win after the Midnight Hour finisher, giving the former WWE Champion and Kingston confidence going into Saturday’s Royal Rumble event.

There appears to have been a swap between companies, although it is unclear who Monday Night Raw will receive in exchange at the time of writing. This coming Monday, it might be disclosed.

Big E’s transition to Smackdown reunites The New Day

After being divided in the 2020 WWE Draft in October, Big E cashed in his WWE Money In The Bank contract against Bobby Lashley, bringing The New Day back together on the same brand for the first time in over a year.

The New Day separated again this past October, much to the surprise of the WWE Universe, courtesy of the 2021 WWE Draft.

The former WWE Champion remained on RAW, while Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were sent to SmackDown.

Due to a calf injury acquired on January 7th, King Xavier Woods is presently on the sidelines. The New Day will be together once more when Woods returns.

Let’s speak about Big E’s prospects of winning this year’s Royal Rumble battle for guys. We believe there is a slim likelihood. He may live for a long time, but we do not believe he will win the Royal Rumble match at this moment.

Big E, who has previously held the titles of two-time Intercontinental Champion and eight-time WWE Tag Team Champion, recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about the impending Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. His ambition to win the Royal Rumble bout was expressed. He stated,

“Winning the Rumble would be incredible. That’s in St. Louis at a great venue in The Dome, and it would be a real moment. This is my chance to show another side of me. It’s time to turn up the intensity. My role with The New Day is so often comedic relief, but I don’t want to be one-dimensional. I want to be as well-rounded and as whole a performer as possible.”
