The ‘No Mercy’ premium live event will return as an NXT event, according to WWE. The first No Mercy event was held on May 16, 1999, in Manchester, England, and it was the only No Mercy occasion held in the UK. In October of the following year, a second No Mercy event took place, this time in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. The second event made No Mercy an annual pay-per-view in October until 2008.

But following the 2008 iteration, the competition was dropped, and in 2009, Hell in a Cell took its place. No Mercy was not on the WWE schedule for eight years. Then it returned in October 2016. Unfortunately, this comeback was short-lived because No Mercy was once more dropped after the event in September 2017.
