William Jason Reso (born November 30, 1973, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian professional wrestler and actor who is best known for his time with the WWE under his in-ring name Christian. He is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under the ring name Christian Cage. He also worked for Impact Wrestling, then known as Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), from 2005 to 2008 and during a brief return in 2021.

Christian was born to a Canadian mother Carol and American father Randy Reso. He played ice hockey and was a wrestling fan as a child. He lived in Huntsville and East Luther-Grand Valley before moving to Orangeville, where he met Adam Copeland also known as Edge, who became his best friend and tag team partner.

Christian made his debut in 1995. He wrestled in Canadian independent promotions early in his career, where he competed in singles and tag team competitions with his friend Edge. In 1998, he signed a developmental contract with the WWE and made his debut the following year, immediately capturing his first championship in the company, the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship, in his debut match. 

Edge and Christian formed a tag team and gained popularity for their participation in Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches. They won the promotion’s World Tag Team Championship on seven occasions. The team parted ways in 2001, after which, Christian held various singles titles, including the European Championship, the Hardcore Championship, and the Intercontinental Championship.

In 1999, Christian began performing in wrestling matches for WWF. During his television debut, he allied with Gangrel against Edge. He won the Light Heavyweight Championship during his debut match against Taka Michinoku.

Soon after, he got back together with Edge and they joined hands with Gangrel to form a faction known as ‘The Brood’, where together they managed to defeat The Undertaker. In 2005, he left WWE to join TNA.

In late 2008, he re-signed with WWE after leaving TNA. In May 2011, he became the World Heavyweight Champion. He has since gone on to win several awards and titles during his career and is well-known for his signature moves like ‘Frog Splash’, ‘Killswitch’, ‘Tornado DDT’, etc.

On December 9, 2013, he made an announcement that he was taking time off from wrestling to recover from his recurring concussion-related issues. From 2014 to 15, he appeared on many episodes of the TV series Haven. He and Edge were part of the ‘Stone Cold Podcast: Live!’ in 2015. In 2016, after his contract with WWE expired, he retired from active wrestling on account of his injuries.

Christian has since made a comeback and is now a wrestler for All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Christian married Denise Hartmann on May 25, 2001. He met her while on tour with WWE in England. Denise is a model from Germany. In 2013, he announced that he and his wife had welcomed a daughter named Isla. They currently live in Tampa, Florida.
