The WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will include Rey Mysterio, it was revealed tonight on Friday Night SmackDown. The Master of the 619 has had a glorious career, competing in the WWE, ECW, AAA, CMLL, NJPW, and WCW, among other prestigious organizations.

He achieved a lot of success in the WWE, winning the WWE Title once, the World Heavyweight Championship twice, and the Royal Rumble in 2006. In addition, he has won the Grand Slam and Triple Crown. A few of the famous encounters and rivalries that Mysterio was involved in include his fights with Edge, Eddie Guerrero, Batista, Kurt Angle, and Cody Rhodes.

Rey Mysterio becomes the first inductee this year

WrestleMania 39 is less than a month away, but up until Friday night, we were in the dark regarding the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame class. But on Friday’s “SmackDown,” the illustrious luchador Rey Mysterio became our first official induction. Sadly, Dominik Mysterio and the rest of The Judgment Day stopped Rey before he had a chance to talk about the honor.

Legado Del Fantasma subsequently defended Rey, but they were unable to exact revenge as Dom won a six-man tag team fight by another pinfall. Dominik then aggravated his father once again. Rey dodged when Dominik attempted to attack him, sending him flying out of the ring. The father and son appear to be headed for a confrontation as WrestleMania weekend approaches.

Rey Mysterio has been part of WWE for over 20 years

But before that can happen, Rey will be given the recognition he so rightfully deserves by being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Rey has held several titles over his more than 20 years with WWE, including the WWE Title, the World Heavyweight Championship, the United States Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the Cruiserweight Championship, and multiple Tag Team Championships.

At WrestleMania Backlash in 2021, Mysterio and Dominik won the “SmackDown” Tag Team Title, becoming the first father-son team in WWE history to accomplish so. Mysterio was also the 21st Grand Slam Champion in the company. Rey continues to refuse to fight his kid at every opportunity in the present, and things could not be more different. Before the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, we will check to see if anything has changed.
