At the age of 54, Darren ‘Droz’ Drozdov passed away. He was best known for his time spent in WWE and ECW. As of this writing, his passing is unknown, but a formal announcement is shortly to be expected. In 1998, Drozdov made his WWE debut. At the time, he was known for adopting the gimmick of a puking guy because of his rumored ability to vomit whenever he wanted. He primarily worked as a mid-card superstar and tag team wrestler for Vince McMahon’s company.

The Incident

In one of the most iconic bizarre accidents in WWE history, Droz’s wrestling tenure ultimately came to a conclusion during a non-televised battle with D’Lo Brown on a Long Island SmackDown taping in October 1999. D’Lo Brown attempted to pull off his running powerbomb maneuver on Droz, but couldn’t get a good grip to pull himself into the powerbomb position. Droz acknowledged that he was wearing a loose shirt at the time.

Poor execution of Droz’s running powerbomb maneuver caused him to land on his head and severely break two of his neck’s vertebrae. Moments after the accident, Droz was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery to relieve pressure.

‘Don’t Try This At Home’

Even though the match was never broadcast on television, a quick clip of Droz being carried out of the ring was used for the “Don’t Try This At Home” WWE advertisements. Thankfully, Droz survived a potentially deadly wound, but there was no chance he could wrestle again because he was paralyzed from the neck down. However, he continued working for WWE as a writer and contributor for its magazine and online, including WWE Byte This! Due to the accident, Droz has regained movement in his upper body and has no animosity towards D’Lo Brown.
