The Friday Night SmackDown telecast was one heck of a show with many surprising events followed one after the other. Dominik Mysterio successfully defended his NXT North American Championship Against Butch. Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, Cameron Grimes, and LA Knight competed in a fatal 4-Way Match, and Mysterio won. Next week, Mysterio will face Santos Escobar. The winner of the contest between Mysterio and Escobar will face US champion Austin Theory in a title battle. Iyo Sky was defeated face-to-face by Charlotte Flair. After Flair had triumphed, Asuka attacked her. Austin Theory lost to Santos Escobar in a head-to-head contest.

Dominik Defends

Following his first taste of singles victory, Dominik Mysterio wasted no time in successfully defending the “NXT” North American Title on Friday’s episode of “WWE SmackDown” in Orlando, Florida. Following a contentious victory against Wes Lee on the July 18th episode of “WWE NXT,” in which he received a lot of help from the other members of Judgement Day, Mysterio would be persuaded to challenge Butch on “SmackDown,” with Shawn Michaels approving the title fight.

Highlights

Dominik Mysterio, the brand-new NXT North American champion, prevailed against Butch in the following match of the evening by virtue of Pretty Deadly’s distraction and Rhea Ripley’s interference. It was good to see the creative teams spotlight the business between the ropes with a character in Mysterio who continues to be among the hottest heels in the industry on a night where there was a large NXT presence on the broadcast due to SmackDown coming from Orlando.

The conflict among Brawling Brutes and Pretty Deadly was in play, but one has to question how long it can last until it gets boring considering the uncertainty surrounding Elton Prince’s availability due to his separated shoulder. especially if Prince truly does miss months of work, as Cole indicated in discussion.

The Judgement Day have recently established themselves as a key Tuesday night staple, thanks to Finn Balor’s involvement in a conflict with “NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. The “SmackDown” event, which was broadcast live from the city where the yellow brand is based, featured a number of “NXT” players throughout the course of the evening, notably previously mentioned Hayes and the previous North American champion Lee.
