WWE now has new women’s tag champions for an additional time in two weeks. On “WWE Raw,” Sonya DeVille and Chelsea Green defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to win the title of WWE Women’s Tag Team. Earlier the same night, during an interview segment, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley attacked Morgan and Rodriguez, causing Rodriguez to sustain a knee injury. Rodriguez informed Adam Pierce that following a back evaluation and clearance to wrestle, she was ready to defend the titles.

The Match

Against Morgan, DeVille and Green got off to a fast start. DeVille caught Rodriguez in a half-Boston crab during a time when both ladies were still in the game, further injuring Rodriguez’s already-injured knee. Eventually, following a hot tag on both sides, Morgan had Green in position for the pin when DeVille interrupted it by kneeing Morgan in the face. Then, DeVille attacked Rodriguez from the outside, hitting her in the knee, and struck Morgan from the outside as well, opening the way for Green to deliver her Unpretty-Her finisher.Unexpectedly, Morgan was booted out, thus DeVille had to deliver the titles with another Unpretty-Her and another knee.

Recently won title

After Shayna Baszler betrayed her purported closest friend at Money in the Bank on July 1, Rodriguez and Morgan had just won the belts for the second time 16 days prior. They defeated Ronda Rousey and Baszler. Since Damage CTRL lost the championships in February, the championship has been ping-ponging throughout WWE. Green and DeVille are the fifth new pair of champions since that time.

Exclusive Club

Chelsea Green becomes just the fourth woman in history to hold both the IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship after this victory. The IIconics, who won the WWE Women’s Tag Titles at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, were the first two females to accomplish this feat. At that year’s Bound for Glory, the team of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce would win the Knockouts Tag Team Titles as The IInspiration in October 2021.

Zelina Vega joined the group in November 2021 when she and Carmella won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, a month after The IInspiration took home the Knockouts Tag Titles. As Rosita, Vega had previously held the Knockouts Tag Team Championship, which she shared with Sarita from March 2011 to July of that same year under the name Mexican America.
