During his tenure with the business, where he won several championship gold medals, Carlito was one of the more well-known WWE Superstars. Only a few times in the last ten years after his WWE departure has he returned, with his Backlash return being the most well-liked. Currently, it seems as though Vince McMahon persuaded him to stay in WWE despite repeated efforts to quit.

WWE Journey

In 2003 Carlito joined the WWE organization, and in 2004, he made his main roster debut by defeating John Cena to win the United States Championship. Carlito captured the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Title, the WWE Tag Team Championship, and the World Tag Team Championship during his tenure in the WWE. In the end, he was freed in May 2010.

‘I requested to leave three times’

Carlito acknowledged to Attitude Era Podcast that he made three requests to leave the organization before Vince McMahon persuaded him to stay in the end.

“Yeah, I requested to leave three times. No, it just shows you why Vince is a genius. You go in there with a mindset, ‘yeah, I’ll get out of here’ or whatever, and you leave there, you know, you just, you know, everything they’re doing is wrong, everything I’m saying is right, you know, they’d sell you this thing and then as soon as you walk out the office and close the door you’re like, ‘Oh, wait a minute. Oh, man, they got me.’ Yeah, you’re going to some kind of mental twilight zone, you know what I mean? I mean this shows you what a genius Vince McMahon is.” Carlito expressed.
